BBC Gardeners' World Live 2014 Design

Hello again,

As you may or may not know, Me and Becky have been working long and hard on our show garden for the Beautiful Borders at BBC Gardeners World Live, NEC Birmingham. It's one week today when we'll be doing the build up - exciting stuff! We're representing BBGG, who have funded us throughout, by making our show garden (which had to have a theme of Birmingham) about Evolution. It represents Birmingham as BBGG will be having an Evolution Trail very soon! It's also worth mentioning that my talented Mother has created the sculpture which will reside in the centre of mine and Becky's show garden.

Here are the designs that Becky created (also includes our list of plants):

I shall post pictures tomorrow of everything (plants, fossils, and sculpture!) measured out and set up in the order of how it will be at the NEC! And check out us and the other show gardens that are going to be part of the Beautiful Borders competition here.

New bedding

This week I have been mostly planting out! The two beds at the top of the subtropical house have been transformed with bright colours and enchanting smells! Me, Becky, Dave, and Wayne did the planting on Tuesday and we're already having lots of positive feedback!

Here are some before and after photos:

Whilst we were doing that, Chris, Nigel, and Dan planted out most of the cosmos in the Terrace beds in front of the glasshouses. Me and Dave then added the last of the cosmos on the Wednesday and then planted an edge of petunias before spending time clearing away the mud from the path!

Here's the finished result (spot the pelargoniums in the windows of the Mediterranean House):
